Why We're Better

Better Homes and Gardens The Shanahan Group joins Rebuilding Together Boston for National Work Day

It’s time to get the band back (Rebuilding) Together!  We’re so excited to be just over a week away from our second annual Rebuilding Together Boston Work Day!

Team Shanahan

Not surprisingly, we’re passionate about home ownership.  So much so, that we’re willing to put our money - and our talents - where are mouths are.  In addition to our company donations, each member of our team, has individually donated the money used to purchase the needed supplies to bring necessary health and safety improvements one deserving person’s home.  Then we really get to work!

This year, rather than having the day all to ourselves, we’re participating in Rebuilding Together’s National Rebuilding Day!  Just within the 3-4 block radius of our work site, there will be more than ten additional teams working on other projects.  What an exciting opportunity to bring life and value back to an entire community and improve the life of a deserving homeowner! And have so much fun doing it!

Helping with Friends

This year, we are again partnering with our friends at G&N Insurance and The Shant Banosian Team at Guaranteed Rate Mortgage and additionally welcome the expertise and know-how of JP Walsh Plumbing and Heating of Medford and carpenter, Mark Bronakant.

The Shanahan team consists of returning Rebuilders Nan and Rich Shanahan, our captain, Caroline Staudt, Karen Garrett, Rebecca Brennan-Laird, Stephanie Walsh, Christine Curtin, and our chief parger (yeah, we didn't know what it was, either), Felicity Tuttle.  First-time Rebuilders include Paula Buono, Cheryl Priplata, and Dara Singleton.

Hope you enjoy the snaps from last year’s Work Day.  At the end, we were tired, dirty, and gratified to know we had helped improve a homeowner’s life.  If you’re interested in becoming involved with Rebuilding Together, please visit their Boston or national site.

Hey, Alexa? Help me find a house!

Introducing the latest in real estate search, powered in our area exclusively by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate The Shanahan Group! Leveraging innovative technology from our colleagues at VoiceterPro, home buyers and sellers can search for real estate using their Amazon Alexa device.

At BHGRE The Shanahan Group, we are committed to innovation in our industry, especially in ways that will make the home buying or selling process easier and more efficient for our clients and our agents. We believe that voice search is a new tool that consumers use in all areas of their lives and we are excited to see how it applies to our business. We are thrilled about this new partnership and the opportunity to be part of something new and fun!

How it works:  Using your Amazon Alexa (and soon Google Home) device, you enable the "real estate" skill through the Alexa app and register. Then, you will be able to search for real estate via voice search (think "Alexa, what's on the market in Winchester between 700 thousand and 900 thousand dollars?"). Alexa will complete the search and announce the results, then send an email to you with the results.

For example, when you are thinking about your next move and maybe not near your computer or phone, you can ask Alexa to help get the process started or just check in on what's on the market today. When you are back online, your search results will be waiting for you to review and take the next steps. Amazing!

Here is a video showing how you work with Alexa to search for real estate. If you have any questions or feedback, reach out to your favorite Shanahan Group agent

Better Homes and Gardens The Shanahan Group - We're Better

When you first pass the Real Estate Licensing Exam in Massachusetts, your name is circulated throughout the different Real Estate Boards. As a result, you receive a lot of letters, phone calls, and emails from various offices, welcoming you to the industry and inviting you to meet with them. Then you start interviewing. You think about whats important to you as you embark on this career, your reasons for choosing to become a Realtor, and you hear a lot about what each of these organizations can offer you. So I went on the interviews. I talked about my background and experience, my expectations and aspirations. And I listened to some spiels. Being a (control freak) detail oriented person, I made my spreadsheet, my list of pros and cons, and I contacted my friend, June for some advice. June has been with Shanahan Real Estate Group in Winchester, as a broker associate and trainer since its inception. And she insisted I come in to speak with Nan Shanahan and the rest of her team. I encountered a workplace filled with passion, humor, teamwork, ideals, authenticity, expertise, and experience. Being with an independent firm was not the direction I had envisioned but after speaking with a few of the bigger names, then speaking with Shanahan, I couldnt envision myself anywhere else. I needed to be valued, to add my own talents and signature, to work as part of a team and grow something worthwhile. I needed to continue to learn and to be challenged. I wanted to work with the best. I signed on with Nan the next day. Fast forward to November of 2012. We were asked to become the first Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate office in Massachusetts. Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (wisely) recognized the intrinsic value of our organization and Nan and our team (wisely) recognized the benefit of affiliating with such a dynamic, highly recognizable, tech-savvy brand. PAIGE As realtors, hundreds of times, weve seen that look when a buyer takes their first steps into a house and they just know this is their home. For us, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate is that home. They had us at hello. Its been a pretty wild ride these past few months with training, trips, and technology, technology, technology! Like any fulfilling relationship, they filled in gaps that we were missing and weve added our own distinctiveness to a company that truly values it. Shanahan Real Estate Group was so very good before. Partnered with this brand, Better Homes and Gardens The Shanahan Group is Better!
