This is the weekend of tradition when the Enka Fair comes to Town. This event evokes so many memories for Winchester residents as we recall the excitement of watching the trucks roll into Town and waiting for the fair to open on Friday night. Over the years the Fair has been in many different locations including in back of the Town Hall, Skillings Field and Manchester Field. (How many of us remember making plans to meet friends "at the rock" when EnKa was at Manchester Field?) We have also seen all kinds of weather from pouring rain with thunder and lightening to sweltering heat to frigid temperatures but the show always goes on. Isn't it amazing that after a solid week of rain and drizzle this year, the sun appeared Friday afternoon and continued right through Saturday?
Winchester MA Volunteers Keep Tradition Alive
This is where Winchester shines as volunteers spend endless hours to keep the fair tradition alive and all to raise money for many good causes around Winchester. This major fundraiser for the Enka Society has kept the Ladies of the EnKa Society busy since 1935. I have had many a buyer decide to purchase a home in Winchester after spending an Enka weekend here and seeing the parade and all the spirit of a small old fashioned town. Young and old come out to celebrate spring in Winchester all for a really good cause. It's one of the things that defines Winchester as strong family community and something we all look forward to each year. And then, after all this fun, we wake up Sunday morning and all the rides and games have disappeared like magic. Thanks Enka Society for another great year!
