There was a great turnout for the Race to Remember at Ginn Field on Sunday morning. Despite the rain and cool temperatures, families came out to raise money to restore Ginn Field in Winchester, MA and to dedicate the Ginn Playground to the Stone-Mortimer family. Deborah Stone Souchat gave an emotional speech to the crowd before the race, thanking the town for their support over the past year. Representative Jason Lewis addressed the crowd before joining the runners in the race.

The best part of the day was the kids fun run, where families lined the track and kids ran in age groups from start to finish. Every runner received a medal and the crowd went wild during every heat. The weather did not dampen the fun and camaraderie of this wonderful event. Mary Ellen Falvey and her team of volunteers put on a spectacular event and raised money for a very worthy cause in town. The Ginn Playground Restoration Project is a collaborative vision among Winchester, MA residents to rebuild Ginn Playground. In addition to having a safe, creative and state-of-the-art park for people of all ages, the goal is create a central playground that best represents everything Winchester has to offer to residents and visitors.
