At Shanahan Real Estate Group, we have a group of agents as committed to their communities and families, as they are to our real estate clients. Below is an example of this from Margo Boulanger. Enjoy!
From Margo Boulanger
Congratulations to Margo Boulanger and her son!
Life is very different as a parent trying to engage in activity with a teenage son (now a junior at Winchester High School). Long gone are the days of trips to museums or the cinema to see Harry Potter movies as a family. Its all about friends, homework and physical activity. But, one day, inspired by the incredible things that people in this town do, I made my move. I had the gutsy idea to ask my 16 year old son if he thought he would be interested in biking in the Pan Mass Challenge with his mother! When he said yes, I was thrilled, excited and motivated to be in good enough shape to do this.
That began a summer filled with training rides and fundraising efforts together. Our enthusiasm and confidence grew daily, especially when we saw donations starting to pour into our accounts, which made it even more worthwhile. So, on Sunday, August 7th
, we rode a 50 mile, 1 day leg of the Pan Mass in the absolute pouring rain. While I was not able to keep up with him, we met up at water stops and when I came through the home stretch, he was standing in a long line of volunteers and riders, clapping me in to the finish line! It brought me to tears (thank goodness it was raining).
He may have viewed it as a way to get in shape for high school soccer, but I viewed it as an incredibly joyous acitivity with my 16 year old son that neither one of us will soon forget. And, to think, we raised over $2,500 for cancer research! I know that he feels very proud about that too.
If you think its not possible to connect with your teenage kids, think again!
Great job, Margo!
