Karen Shanahan Garrett was raised and educated in Winchester and continues to be involved in the community through various children and school groups and business associations. After attending Bucknell University, Karen worked for a large management consulting firm, specializing in marketing and sales strategies for pharmaceutical companies. After making the move back to Winchester with her family several years ago, Karen transitioned into the world of residential real estate. This was familiar territory, as Karen's mother is Nan Shanahan, a long-time successful Winchester real estate broker. At the time when Karen was beginning her career, she supported Nan in launching The Shanahan Group and the two continue to work together, building on the company's great success.

Karen's approach to real estate is simple. Buying or selling a house (and especially when both are happening at the same time!) is stressful and complicated, even when everything goes according to plan. Karen believes that her role is to be a trusted partner in the process and provide guidance and advice on how best to move through the process and be successful.

She is your project manager in the homebuying or selling process- analyzing trends in local sales activity, marketing your home with the best in technology and insight, arranging for showings and communicating with other brokers, meeting with contractors, setting up home inspections, communicating with your attorney and much more- so that you can focus on your job and your family at this important time.

Karen feels very fortunate to work with really talented and smart people and to be part of a big and exciting time in her clients' lives. And all of this happens at a company founded by her mother, where they work side by side with a dynamic team of professionals.
